Memory care communities provide a unique living experience catered to those with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Residents require a level of care with higher acuity, so staff at these communities are available 24/7. It goes beyond the care, however. The living environments are structured in a way that enables safe and stress-free living, focusing on being routine-oriented. Programs are designed to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s or dementia, enrich cognitive skills, and instill a sense of purpose in the lives of residents. These units are often located within Assisted Living Communities, Continuing Care Retirement Communities, and Skilled Nursing Facilities.
Some communities accept Medicaid. Medicare may pay for certain medically necessary services. Private long-term care insurance also covers Memory Care.
